Our herbal tea was born in 2016, when during our participation in the Giro Olio D'Italia event in Ferrandina, we were excited about the possibility of reinterpreting in a modern version an old remedy from our grandmother, which was precisely the olive leaf decoction. However, to tell the story of our herbal tea, we must start from the olive grove.
The exclusive location of our olive grove, situated at about 465 meters above sea level, immersed in an uncontaminated territory because it is far from roads and intensive cultivations, offers us perfect leaves without fungi and molds, thanks to both the apical and basal shoots. The organic certification is just the foundation from which we started our young agricultural company. We strongly believe that nature should only be followed and not forced, which is why we decided not to plow the land anymore, favoring grassing to contrast erosion and benefit the soil fertility, as well as the nutrients that provide well-being and nutritional substance to our plants, which we later find in the olives, oil, and leaves.
The leaves, manually harvested in two periods of the year—spring and late summer—are immediately processed on the same day of harvesting. They are removed from the branch, washed, and dried at low temperature and controlled humidity. The drying process we use is the result of tests and research, ensuring the preservation of the precious nutrients and the bright green color of the leaves, proving that they do not undergo any oxidation that would degrade their nutritional characteristics.
These ready leaves are then blended with other spices, to which beneficial effects are added. Variants like Digest and Energy include Wild Fennel Seeds and Star Anise or Licorice and Juniper Berries, or packaged as Pure for maximum benefit from oleuropein.
Even the packaging is the result of careful study. The bag containing the tea is made of corn fiber, the FSC-certified cardboard packaging has aluminum caps, completing the virtuous circle of sustainability from production to packaging.
Tis’Olivo can be successfully enjoyed hot or cold, sweetened or not. With a pleasant taste reminiscent of freshly cut grass, it is suitable for any time of the day.
